Deirdre (Dee) Grimshaw is a highly experienced and dedicated international school leader with over 30 years in education. She earned her B.Ed Hons and Qualified Teacher Status (Diploma) from Trinity College Dublin in 1994 and began her teaching career in Ireland before moving overseas. Dee has worked in a range of prestigious international schools, including the New English School in Kuwait, Seoul Foreign School in South Korea, and The Alice Smith School in Malaysia. These diverse experiences have shaped her global perspective and deep commitment to high-quality, inclusive education.
Since 2014, Dee has been based in Ho Chi Minh City. Prior to joining BVIS, she has served in key leadership roles at the British International School, HCMC. She joined the school as the Primary Deputy Headteacher in 2014 and became Primary Headteacher in 2018. In this role, she has led with clarity, compassion, and purpose; supporting both academic excellence and the holistic development of every child.
Dee holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) from the UCL Institute of Education and has completed Nord Anglia’s APLP. Her leadership philosophy centers on collaboration, integrity, and care—empowering staff, students, and families to thrive together in a vibrant school community.
Dee has also participated in a number of school inspections with BSO and as a CIS Accreditation Evaluator.
Dee is married to Simon, also a teacher, and they have two sons currently studying at university in the UK. Outside of school, she enjoys walking, getting lost in a good book, and when the mood takes her, baking!
