Welcome to our school's House System

Building strong friendships and nurturing a sense of pride, our House system brings students together across the year groups.

At St Andrews, we believe in creating a supportive, inclusive, and fun community where every student can thrive. It's essential for our students to play an active role, contribute to their community, develop a range of skills and talents, and celebrate their successes.

One way we do this is through our House System. We believe the House System helps build a strong sense of community and school spirit. It provides every student with a place to belong, featuring friends from different year levels. Working together in your House teaches teamwork, communication, and support, whether you're in a sports match, talent show, or a quiz. Most of all, it brings us together to celebrate achievements and show school pride.

What is the House System, and why is it important?

The House System is a special way we organise students and staff into different “Houses” at our school. Each House has students from different year groups, which means they can meet new people and build friendships.

Each child is allocated a House when they first join St Andrews. Siblings are put into the same House to encourage House spirit both at school and at home. Students remain in the same House throughout their time at school. House T-shirts are available for purchase at the Uniform Shop.

Each House has a unique name and is represented by a mascot and colour, encouraging friendly competition during events such as science and art competitions, music performances, talent shows, Sports Day, and more.

Individual and team efforts are rewarded with House Points during the year, and at the end of the academic year, the House with the most points are declared the House Champions.

Our Houses and House Mascots

The names of the Houses at St Andrews are inspired by the hill tribes indigenous to Northern Thailand. Each house is represented by a different colour and animal mascot, voted for by the students in Primary and High School.

Akha is red, Lahu is yellow, Yao is blue, and Karen is green.

Become a House Rep

At the beginning of every academic year, in Primary School House Reps from Year 3 to Year 6 are elected. It is a fantastic opportunity for students to experience a leadership role from a young age. The Year 6 pupils are also the House Captains. The children participate in various events throughout the year, including Fun Fridays.

Become a House Leader

In High School, students have the opportunity to join the House Leaders extra-curricular activity (ECA), which happens on Tuesdays for Key Stage 4 and 5, and on Wednesdays for Key Stage 3.

As House Leaders, students take on essential responsibilities throughout the school year. These include organising and hosting weekly events during breaktime every Friday, as well as coordinating the Open Mic event, held every other Thursday.

In addition to these weekly commitments, House Leaders play a key role in planning and running major school events such as:

Halloween Celebrations

The Giving Tree

Central Thailand Mission Christmas Party

STA Blood Drive in collaboration with the Thai Red Cross

These events help foster a strong sense of community and school spirit. Being a House Leader is more than just a role; it's a chance to build lasting friendships, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and make a meaningful contribution to school life.
